Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:18-10)

He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:8)

Father we thank you for this new season and this new thing that you are doing in your body, and at Thrive specifically. Lord we ask that you would help us to move beyond the things of the past; to drop our disappointments, our agendas, our expectations, and fully embrace the future plans that you have for Thrive Ministry.

Father we ask that you would prepare the members of Thrive - the corporate body and the leadership - for this change of location and the new building. We ask Father that you would prepare the church financially and spiritually for the changes that are coming. We ask for you to put in place the order and organization, the administrative skills, that will be necessary for the move. We ask for great favor with city officials, with banks, and those that own the property where Thrive will be located. We ask you Father for Kingdom resources - finances, wisdom, and people that will be needed in this process of moving.

Lord we ask you to provide a place - a specific location - and a building(s) for Thrive to meet as a corporate body in the coming months and years to follow. Lord we ask that you would reveal a specific property where you desire this congregation to be established and that you would make it available for your purposes. We ask that you would plant this church and the new building on firm foundations and that it would not be moved again. We pray that Thrive would become a way-point, a crossroad, where believers and ministries would receive resources, refreshment, nourishment and be sent out again to expand your Kingdom in other places.

Father we thank you for all that you have done in and through this local church body and we thank you in advance and wait with great expectation for the mighty works that you will do through Thrive in the future.

Hello Dear Prayer Warriors,

Well, I'm sitting here at a booth in Panera, waiting to bring our kid home from work, and I am attempting to enjoy the dregs of summer as we gear up for the new school year! I actually enjoy this time of year because it's a season that feels like a great time to launch something.

Don't you agree?

The reason for our email is to thank you for praying for us, and to ask you for an increase in prayer for our building. Specifically, Molly and I were hoping that you might consider joining us in a fast each Tuesday to help focus our attention on seeing God move on our behalf regarding our building search.

If you were to have asked Molly a year ago, she probably would have told you that she thought we would be in a new building by now, or at least very close to moving into one. I had a different perspective (more pessimistic?;) but whatever the case may be, we continue to seek after a church home that can accommodate our needs as a growing church community, but to date, we have no solid leads.

We are leaving no stone unturned in the natural, looking at every building that seems remotely feasible to us, but we also need to do all we can in the Spirit to seek after the Lord and his will for us as church. Jesus taught his disciples that some things are only moved by prayer and fasting.

Would you consider joining us in taking a day to pray and fast each Tuesday? What you fast is of course, between you and the Lord, but it's our expectation that we will see and feel and hear God more clearly as we clear away some of the distractions of every day life.

Thank you. Thank you for holding us in your hearts and in prayer. Thank you for contending for our God-ordained future. Thank you for pulling down strongholds and ushering in God's kingdom for Thrive as it is in heaven.

UPDATE 07/03/19

First of all, thanks so much for your prayers regarding the building search that we are on. We seem to be at the point where prayer is most needed. At this point, we have no hot leads on a building, and no real irons in the fire.  We kind of hit a wall on the building that we were most interested in, which is a church building that is for sale on Wood St. a few doors down from Village Hall. Right now, the owner is telling us that we cannot get back in to see the building unless we are willing to make an offer, but we can't make an offer until our council has seen the building. So we appear to be at an impasse. The door isn't shut on this building, but it certainly doesn't feel very open right now either.
We continue to keep our eyes open for other building opportunities in the area. We are so thankful that we no longer have a very rushed time line in terms of vacating the building that we are in currently, but we do feel that God is wanting to lead us to a permanent home for Thrive.

Please pray for:

  • Favor with the Village of Palatine, that they would help us to find the perfect location for us.

  • Favor with the seller of the Wood St. location if that's what God has for us.

  • Someone to lead us to a location in Palatine that we are currently not aware of that could potentially become our home.

  • Patience and wisdom about where to look and how to proceed.

  • Creative ideas for how to maximize the space that we are in to effectively do ministry, especially to our children. Our kids ministry is the most pinched at the moment. Our concern is that new families may feel that we don't have enough space for their children, and they may not make Thrive their church home because of this.

Thanks so much for your prayers. Please send along any prophetic words, and keep your eyes and ears open for us!

Psalm 127:1
"Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it..."
Father we pray that you would have YOUR way in this season. Please give us the grace to follow you even when it doesn't make sense. Lord, do not allow us to become distracted by our own ideas and our own agendas. Give us divine vision to see where you are leading us and ears to hear what you are saying - both in the natural and spiritual realm.
Lord we thank you for this new season. We ask that our hearts and minds would be fixed on YOU and not the challenges ahead. We ask for unity among the leaders and elders at Thrive. We ask protection from any attack or confusion from the enemy. Free us from distractions Lord and fill us with hope and expectation.

Philippians 4:6-7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Lord we acknowledge you as our faithful Provider and we know that you already know exactly what we need. You know that we need a building and we thank you for providing the location, the finances, the timing, and the physical building.  We look to you for Your supernatural, abundant provision. We call those things that are not, as though they are in Jesus' name, and we wait in hopeful expectation for You to move in whatever way You choose.  Amen.

Thank you for continuing to pray with us!

UPDATE 06/07/19

Hello faithful friend!
Thank you SO much for praying for our new building adventure! We are confident that God is working on our behalf. Here are some updates and a few prayer points:

Our building owners have appraised our current building.  They have offered to let us stay for another 12-18 months as we continue to look for our next home. This is such good news!  We can continue to look, watch, pray and discern what God has for us without a massive amount of pressure. If the building would go up for sale this summer and sell and close in 60 days- we might have been homeless by Sept! So, thank you Jesus for grace and a bit more time.

We are continuing to look at properties, but at this point, we don’t have many non-church building options in Palatine. We have looked right over the border into Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, but those have been dead ends at this point. We know at any moment, another option may open up to us, so we continue to watch.

We are praying around the church on Wood St. in Palatine to see if that is something God may have. At this point, the church is over-priced. We are looking at a market analysis of how much other churches have sold per sq. foot in the area. That might help us figure out what the  church is really worth.

Please Pray:
- Wisdom and understanding: pray that church council and staff will know what God is doing and what He has for us. He knows all things! We want to partner with the mind of Christ!
- Timing: please pray for no delays! Pray that God’s timing for the release of our next property at the right time.
- Resource: please pray for increase and wise stewardship for Thrive’s finances and resource. We are expecting multiplication of heaven!
- Peace: please pray for peace as we abide in Jesus!  He is so trustworthy and we are His. We are in a covenant relationship with Him and He will not disappoint us!

Thanks for joining us in prayer! It matters!!! I know that our prayer is effective and creating and moving that which needs to be moved!

UPDATE 05/16/19

Thank you for praying for Thrive’s Future

I hope that you are doing well and are enjoying the pretty day today.  I wanted to give you a heads up  on things that we are currently praying about regarding our building search, and ask you to join us.

First of all, we want you to know that Molly and I are feeling peaceful and hopeful about the process, and we know that God has a wonderful home for us as a church.  It's really exciting!

Here are a few front burner items to pray through:

--We currently have two "leads."   Our best prospect at the moment seems to be the Evangelical Community Church at 312 E. Wood St. in Palatine.  This church is for sale, and we've recently done a walk through.  It seems to have lots of potential.  The prayer points would be that the price tag is too high for what the property is worth, so we are asking the Lord to make a way for us to obtain the property for a price that is closer to its actual value.

Secondly, please pray that the Lord gives us discernment regarding this property, and favor with the owner.

--The second property that we are currently looking at is a car dealership around the corner from church on Hicks Rd. by Northrup Grummon.  It has a more reasonable price tag, and has lots of potential to be really cool for us, but we would have to work with the village of Rolling Meadows to procure this building.

--Thirdly, please pray for clear strategies for moving forward in our search, and for our church family to rise to the occasion as we endeavor to move into the future.  Molly and I need SO much help with this process.  Pray for leaders and workers to rise up.  Please pray for supernatural financial resource to pour in so that we can borrow as little as possible to pay for this building.

--Pray for our council, that God would give us supernatural wisdom and discernment., energy, and synergy as we work together on this wonderful but massive project.

--Please pray for effectiveness in prayer.  We need a BIG God in this season.  I've seen God give us seasons where He is very generous with his Presence and his help, and I pray that this will be one of those seasons!

--Finally, please pray that the Lord would protect us from the schemes of the enemy, whatever they may be, and that Jesus would guide our every step.

Thanks for co-laboring with us.

Kevin and Molly

Thanks so much for signing up to pray for our next move! We know that God moves as we pray together! We are looking to God to provide like only He can, in ways that are beyond our expectation. We are knocking on every door, to see what opens- land to build something new, an existing building that we can renovate, a church that is moving out of their space! We are sure God has something great in mind and is bringing answers to us as we seek and knock.

For now, will you pray through this promise over Thrive?

We hear God speaking in Isaiah 54, the Message version:
“Clear lots of ground for your tents!
Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big!
Use plenty of rope,
    drive the tent pegs deep.
You’re going to need lots of elbow room
    for your growing family.
You’re going to take over whole nations;
you’re going to resettle abandoned cities.
Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed.
Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short.

We are confident that we are not going to come up short in any way: time, resource, space. Please pray that we experience the fullness of God’s faithfulness, that we stay full of courage and can discern His grace in this process.

Thanks again for praying!  We will post updates here every other week!

"A HOPE & A FUTURE" Building Prayer Project Overview

Proverbs 4:11 gives us some clear promises for our lives: “I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” We are looking for these ways of wisdom and straight paths as a church family this spring and summer. We know that God is teaching us, leading us and moving us! We want to hear and follow His instruction!

THE SCOOP ON MOVING: Our current building is owned by another church denomination. We recently learned that this denomination is purchasing another building in the area and would like to put our building on the market to sell in the near future. We don’t have an exact timeline of when the building will go on the market and when it will sell. The best estimate we have been given is that we will need to be out of our building in the first quarter of next year, 2020. We have steadily been looking for our next location over the past few years. With this news, has come a new focus and increased efforts around this building search.

Here’s where you come in: When we pray together, God does things! Simple, right? We want to focus our attention on God and His instruction, promises and nature! He is faithful to us. He has begun a good work and He will finish the good work. Thrive is setting up a prayer calendar to pursue God’s heart, wisdom and voice for us as church.
Will you sign up to pray one day per week for the next three months?  We are asking for God to be known in greater measure to us and through us in this move; to increase in favor with God and man; for heavenly provision for our building; and for the wisdom of God in all our decisions and movement.

Thanks for joining us in this! We can’t wait to see the glorious hope and future He brings! We will pass along updates as we discover them… you can pass along what you hear God saying as we lean into His voice!
