God is caring for His children through the love of one Vineyard family. Picture this... a multigenerational family shares a small apartment in which several siblings share a cramped room. The grandmother is holding down home life as the mother is out working several jobs to pay the bills.
About the Kiefers Kevin and Molly Kiefer have been active in ministry for 15 years. They met in college where they both were active small group leaders and teachers at Campus House ministry and in Athletes in Action, respectively.
God wants to be a part of their whole lives. Picture this... A young couple walks into a church where they quickly sense a genuine excitement and expectancy for God and His Kingdom. They have walked through the doors of many churches, but never felt truly alive or at home in them.
Church happens all week. Picture this... a church body that feels like family, each person uniquely gifted, uniquely called, yet all sharing one purpose, one vision, one dream. Imagine a church where everyone freely shares the gift God has entrusted to them.
This is the kingdom of God on earth. Picture this... a man walks into Starbucks, divorced, broken by sin and addiction, alienated and dejected. He goes to the coffee shop because it gives him a chance to be around people (even if they never talk to him) which is better than being alone. A member of Thrive Vineyard Church happens to be hanging out at the coffee shop this day.

Some Thoughts on Hunger

In our Christian church community, we typically get a flurry of people sharing what they feel like God is saying for the new year.  I have to add my two cents and share what God has put on my heart and the prayer He has stirred in my spirit for this year.  The verse that came alive to me is Luke 6:21, "Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled."  It is a year of pressing into our hunger for the things of God, His Kingdom, His friendship, a deep desire to know Him.

God chooses the platform, we choose the gospel

As we are studying Philippians, I have been so captivated by Paul's incredibly strong and faithful response to his circumstances.  He has spent the last several years imprisoned for telling others about the freedom that only following Jesus brings.  He intended to go preach this message in Rome as a free man and now ends up in Rome chained wrist to wrist to an Imperial Gaurd 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  His message to his loving friends and spiritual children is one of confidence and unmatched steadiness:  But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ." (Phil. 1: 12-13, NKJV)

How far will you go to follow Jesus?

At Jesus' last supper, no doubt the cross was looming in front of him.  The time was near.  And as he was speaking to his disciples, he said something that I find very "human."  He said to them, "You are those who stood by me in my trials." (Mt. 22:28).  The statement seems so weak, so vulnerable, that I can hardly believe that God said it.  In effect he said, "Thank you, because you were with me when my life got hard."
